Health Information Management (HIM)
Accreditation Peer Reviewers are the essential basis of the CAHIIM program accreditation assessment process.
Reviewers are academic professionals that are associated with CAHIIM Accredited programs. Trained Reviewers are dedicated volunteers and through their role provide a service in verifying program information on the
operations and performance of all Accreditation Standards.
The review team then communicates their Findings in the CAHIIM Accreditation System (CAS) to be used by the CAHIIM Health Information Management Accreditation Council (HIMAC).
Share educational and practice experience by applying and serving in this vital function to maintain quality educational programs.
Peer Reviewers serve by analyzing the program’s self-assessment documentation on a web-based system with interactive communication tools in an easy-to use format.
Reviewers also serve on site visit teams to objectively evaluate programs and their institutions under initial and continuing CAHIIM Accreditation Standards and compile the final online site visit report submitted to CAHIIM. On
occasion, Reviewers may be needed for special CAHIIM accreditation projects.
The scope of CAHIIM Accreditation for Health Infomation Management is at the associate, baccalaureate and master’s degree levels for programs in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Eligibility and Qualifications
- A master’s degree in any field in addition to the professional credential of RHIT or RHIA.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching and/or program director experience in a CAHIIM Accredited program.
General attributes and requirements
Ability to travel, excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, good time management skills, flexibility, demonstrates good team leadership, has access to a laptop or tablet computer.
Term of Service
All Reviewers begin with a 2-year term with succeeding terms of service pending positive work and feedback.
Reviewers are required to conduct 2 site visit reviews per calendar year if sites are available.
Valid Driver’s license required.
On site training and periodic e-training is provided.
